Star Wars’ Dave Filoni Reflects on Rian Johnson Sighting

David Philoni, The Mandalorian‘s Executive Producer and Executive Creative Director of Lucasfilm, talked a bit about the time he spent observing various star wars directors during the production of the sequel trilogy, including Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

While speaking with THR, Filoni explained everything he learned from his time watching Johnson during the production of The Last Jedi and revealed that he still speaks regularly with the director.

“Rian was the one who pushed me forward, putting lenses in my hand and really immersing me,” Filoni said. “And so I still speak with him to this day. He’s obviously a very talented filmmaker, and I was very lucky to be in such an environment where I could sit and listen and learn.

Filoni then did some live-action star wars projects, including three episodes of The Mandalorian and several episodes of the next Disney+ series Ahsoka. The latter is based on the titular character that Filoni and star wars creator George Lucas created for animated film and series Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Many Star Wars projects are on the horizon, including the Disney+ series Ahsoka, The AcolyteAnd Skeleton crew. The third season of The Mandalorian currently releases weekly on Disney+, while the video game Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is approaching its April 28 release date.
