A list of receivers who in a weak market
As the Cleveland Browns defense continues to get some of the most deserved attention from fans and the media, the addition of another receiver is also something fans and the media care about. In today’s NFL, you can never have enough pass receivers.
The question for chief executive Andrew Berry is whether he can spend enough resources to secure a deal. Robert Woods got $10 million guaranteed despite consecutive years. Berry already spends a lot of money on offensive weapons Amari Cooper, David Njoku And Nick Chubb with QB Deshaun Watson big deal.
The team’s second receiver, Donovan Peoples Jonescould be in line for an extension this offseason after continued growth and pending free agency after the 2023 season.
In another free agency rumor/report from Mary Kay Cabot, the Browns have their eyes on some big names:
- Brandin cooks – Trade
- Elijah Moore – Trade
- Adam Thielen – Free Agency
- Odell Beckham Jr – Free Agency
- Mecole Hardman – Free Agency
- DJ Chark- Free Agency
Of the six, only Hardman is expected to sign a relatively advantageous contract. There are very few good receivers in free agency, the draft lacks a lot of top talent, and teams are always looking for more playmakers.
In addition to Berry potentially being reluctant to spend a lot of money on receivers, receivers looking for a one-year rebound deal like Beckham and Hardman, can pick a spot where they aren’t third or the fourth option on most games.
As Cabot notes, players want to play with Watson, including his former teammates DeAndre Hopkins and cooks, but making it work will be hard work for Berry.
