Madhuri Dixit greets the media with clasped hands as she leaves for mum’s funeral | Bollywood

Madhuri Dixit’s mother, Snehlata Dikshit, died in Mumbai on Sunday. The actor was spotted in white, with husband Dr Shriram Nene and youngest son Ryan as they drove off together for his funeral in a car. Snehlata Dikshit was 90 years old. Madhuri and Dr. Shriram Nene announced the news of his death in a statement released to the media. It read: “Our beloved Aai, Snehalata Dikshit passed away peacefully this morning surrounded by her loved ones.” His last rites were performed at the Vaikunth Dham in Worli.

Madhuri, who is the youngest of four siblings, shared a heartwarming message on her mother’s 90th birthday last year. She has two older sisters and an older brother. Their father died at age 91 in 2013.

Sharing never-before-seen photos of her mother, Madhuri wrote on her birthday last year, “Happy birthday Aai! They say a mother is a daughter’s best friend. They can’t be right anymore. everything you have done for me, the lessons you have taught me have been the greatest gift you have given me. I wish you only good health and happiness!” Madhuri had written, along with rare and previously unseen photos of her mother.”

Snehlata Dikshit painted despite poor eyesight. Last month, Dr Shriram Nene had shared an article about how they were preserving his paintings. He tweeted: “My 90-year-old mother-in-law paints. She has macular degeneration and can’t see very well. But what comes out of his mind is remarkable. She is the most beautiful and positive person in the world. We had his paintings placed on mugs to remind us of his talent.”

Madhuri was last seen in the movie Maja Ma last year. She had made her acting comeback with the web series The Fame Game.
