I think she is introducing perspective into the topic of “terrorism” that are absent from our current debate. Terror as a tactic is old, 9/11 didn’t start it and “destroying ISIL,” if that is even possible, given its ability to target outside the “caliphate,” is not likely. Were ISIL destroyed, terror would still be with us and our challenges in dealing with it would remain. I read this as trying to surround the politicians’ rhetoric with solid facts.
